#zeroby2030

By Melissa Starfield

I'm now a Zero Hero

As a Zero Hero, I want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. I believe every death from breast cancer is one too many. To achieve this, I’m raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.

Click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation and help me reach my goal. Every donation, big or small, will help me get there. Please donate today.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a tax-deductible receipt via email as soon as you make your donation.

Thank you so much for your support!

My Updates

The Results!

Monday 13th Sep
Wonderful news today that Mums cancer had not spread !!

The surgeon advised the decision to have a double mastectomy was the correct choice, as the type of cancer they found had a 40% chance of spreading from the left to right breast.

She’s waiting for updates now on treatment but doesn’t require radiation.

She has grade 1 cancer & early detection is critical.

Mums Journey

Monday 13th Sep
August 2021 my mum Ann-Marie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
She had just (2 months earlier) retired & relocated to Gold Coast, QLD with her husband.
This was not the retirement journey they had planned !

After a few weeks of tests & consults, Mum followed her surgeons advice with a Double Mastectomy booked for 6th Sept 2021.

When mum advised her family & friends, we were all in shock at how a fit and healthy person could get Cancer. Her mother, nor her siblings had any history of breast cancer,
But this was to be Mums journey.

Pre & post mastectomy we discussed at length the statistics on breast cancer, the research funding needed, & asked ourselves why aren’t more women talking about this.
55 women are diagnosed everyday & it’s almost guaranteed everyone knows someone.

This fundraiser is to raise funds to ensure zero deaths by 2030. It’s only achievable with your support & community fundraising.

Your donation is appreciated.
