I'm Stepping Up To Breast Cancer

Having the BRCA2 gene mutation means I have an increased risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer. This year I have taken control of my health and hope to spread awareness and fundraise towards cancer research through this challenge! It will keep me moving and hopefully with your help raise some money!

This August, I have joined the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to Step Up to Breast Cancer. I have stepped up to the challenge of completing 10,000 steps every day throughout the month to raise money for vital breast cancer research.

This year over 3,200 Australians will lose their life to breast cancer. That is why I have stepped up to the challenge to help fund research to reach Zero Deaths from breast cancer. But I need your help.

Every donation, big or small, will get me closer to reaching my goal and helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation reach Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

My Updates

Sticks and stones

Monday 21st Aug
Sticks and stones and basketballs can break bones! Grateful a broken finger doesn’t get in the way of stepping! It’s been tight getting those numbers in with so many things on but I’m pushing hard even pacing the bedroom before bed making sure I hit that 10k a day!

Step by Step

Wednesday 9th Aug
So yesterday was 5 months since my sleeve, that fact I can jog walk step to my hearts content has made it fun! I love parking a little further away from where I'm going, just taking a stroll when I have a few spare minutes ( Clayton watch the kids ill be back in 10)
I thought it would be a tough challenge but adding more movement into my day has come easily. I'd love to raise more funds but at least chatting to people about what I'm doing and why spreads awareness and gets people talking about their own health.

Getting out!

Saturday 5th Aug
Been a busy week but enjoying every step! Grateful for movement and loving that Alex is with me almost every step of the way! Walking Will to school or waking matagarup bridge I’m loving the time outside!

Here we are...

Saturday 22nd Jul
It's almost time to start this thing! 10,000 steps a day may not seem like much to many people but considering the last 2 years I've barely been able to walk from the carpark to my sons classroom without being in agony it's a pretty good challenge for me. I've finally managed to take control of my mental and physical health and have a great support team behind me! Having the BRCA2 gene means I have a higher risk of developing cancer in the future and improving my health now and raising funds to help cancer research is a win-win in my book!
