Show for a Cure

By Leah Kinman & Sara Church

About Our Cause

After suffering the loss of a very special friend to breast cancer late in 2023 a discussion between close friends (Leah & Sara) uncovered a list of women who they personally knew that were either recovered (in remission), currently getting treatment or had lost their battle from Breast Cancer and the two of us decided we wanted to do something to help.

Deb was a horse lover and attended many horse shows & events before losing her battle with Cancer. Something Leah & i both enjoy as well. So in honor of Deb we have decided that for all local Agriculture shows for 2024 we will wear pink accessories when we ride our horses and compete to support The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

As a Zero Hero, we want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. We believe every death from breast cancer is one too many. To achieve this, We are raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

We really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer. Together we can help them get there.

Click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation and help us reach our goal. Every donation, big or small, will help me get there. Please donate today.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a tax-deductible receipt via email as soon as you make your donation.

Thank you so much for your support!

My Updates

Whats happening now? Whats next?

Wednesday 10th Apr
Its been a little while since an update but rest assured, we are busy behind the scenes.
Here's an update on what's next for team Pink.

- Leah & Shadow are working hard learning dressage tests for the upcoming dressage day being held at Camperdown on 28th April.
- Bella & Bill are working hard on jumping practice to prepare for the return of Caramut riding club training days returning on 18th May.
- Sara has just brought home her new man Hugo. Hugo will be backed over the next few weeks and begin his saddle career over winter. All going well Hugo will be out & about with Sara next show season wearing Pink to support our cause. & raise awareness.

So while it appears we are quiet the 3 of us are busy in the background.  Also looking forward to some quiet trail rides and some time focusing on ground work & connection over winter.

Thank you again for all your support.

Heytsbury Show 2024

Wednesday 13th Mar
On Saturday 2nd March we loaded up the horses & headed off to Simpson for the Heytsbury Show.
For the first time we had a full team of 3 proudly representing Show for a Cure.
- Leah & Shadow
- Bella & Bill
- Sara & Charlie
Although a long day we all came away with some great results. Including our very first Alabar Hero series qualifier for the team, Leah & Shadow.
This award qualifies Leah & Shadow to enter the prestigious competition held annually in Bendigo.
Hopefully the rest of us can qualify this year as well & join them in January 2025 at the Final.
Some other highlights from Heytsbury:
- Bella & Bill had their first Canter at a show & Bella is still smiling
- Heytsbury was Charlies first show with Sara and only his 2nd ever. he proved himself to be an absolute superstar and Sara is super excited to take him to many more.

Show season ramps down for us now with a few winter woolies
on the horizon, some dressage days, some showjumping & lots of trail riding fun.

Thank you to everyone for our donations so far. Our pink Browbands are a great opening at shows for conversations around what we are doing, and we look forward to sharing lots more updates with everyone throughout the year.

Team Teal 2024

Monday 19th Feb
On Sunday 18th Feb Leah & Sarahs daughter Bella attended the Team Teal Extravaganza show at Elco Park Lara.
