OK guys, I've decided to up the ante a little bit. Well a lot really. Since I've gotten back into my training a month ago (damn isolation and home made cooking/baking got me good), I'm feeling more motivated so I've decided to double the trip and do a return voyage rather than just one way. So essentially I'll be trekking approx 60kms for the day.  The one way hike is suggested to do over 2 days and I'm planning on doing a return trip in 1 day. I'll do my best not to be airlifted out of there, I promise.

I'm hoping to be on the track starting at Bundeena making my first steps by 5 AM, hit Otford by 11-12 PM turn around to do it all again and be off the track, back to the safety of my car by 6 PM. All of this is weather pending of course.

I really want to thank everyone who has supported me with donations and messages of support. I'll be thinking of you all along my hike.

Change of plans

Hi all,

Unfortunately due to the current COVID-19 situation, I won't be able to take part in the GC Marathon.

Instead I'm going to be tackling a 30km Grade 5 bushwalk through the Royal National Park. It's suggested to do this over 2 days but I'm going to do it in 1 with a weighted pack just to add some extra spice.

My motivation

Hi all,

A few years back my mother Marilyn was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily for her and us, they found it very early and her treatment was fairly straight forward. Without the research and awareness, mum might not have been so lucky.

Unfortunately, a lot of other women and some men, have not been as fortunate, which is why I'm passionate about this cause. I feel really honoured to be able to support such a great cause with the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

I've done a few challenging things in my life, including walking the Kokoda Trail for White Ribbon in 2018 and recently surviving the first year of parenthood (with help from my beautiful wife of course). This trek will likely be one of the most difficult things I've done. In comparison to what others endure when cancer effects theirs lives, I'll only be enduring a fraction of the pain.
