Louie & Lola Yarns 'Go Pink' Fundraiser/Raffle

This June, the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is challenging all Australians to make a pledge and GO PINK to raise funds in support of the thousands of women and men whose lives have been - and will be - impacted by breast cancer.

I've made a pledge to WEAR IT and raise funds for game-changing research into early detection and preventative treatments for breast cancer, which is vital to increasing survival rates.

As an online hand dyed yarn business, Louie & Lola Yarns, I am pleased to have partnered with Thread & Maple and knitting designer Tracie Millar, both from Canada, to have put together a limited edition 'Go Pink or Go Home' Notions Clutch, Sock Set & Knitting Pattern bundle.  These will be listed on the Louie & Lola Yarns website on Saturday, 26 June.

We will donate $20 to Go Pink 2021 from the sale of this limited edition bundle 'Go Pink or Go Home' Bundle from the Louie & Lola Yarns shop.

Thread & Maple will also be selling the bundles on their website and making the same donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

In addition, from Tuesday 22 June to Saturday, 26 June, we will be holding daily raffles, awarding one of 5 limited edition 'Go Pink or Go Home' Sock Sets! To qualify for the daily draw, simply make a $5.50 donation through the Louie & Lola website at www.louieandlolayarns.com.au between Tuesday, 22 June and Saturday, 26 June 2021. We will randomly select one lucky winner from each day's donors list. 100% of donated funds will go directly to NBCF and we'll match these donations x2

(Wednesday 24 June Update:  The Louie & Lola x 2 dollar matching will now be capped at $5K given the totally overwhelming response received - you guys are awesome, thank you so much)!

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. Almost 20,000 women and men will be diagnosed this year. That’s 55 Australians every single day. Since NBCF’s inception in 1994, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer has increased from 76% to 91%. It’s proof that their strategy of investing in world-class research is working. However 8 women still lose their lives from breast cancer each day – mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts and friends.

Please donate to my page and you’ll be helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation step closer to their goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

YOU can make a difference. Let me know if you want to GO PINK with me!

Warm Regards,

Karina Moore

My Updates

Together we raised over $11K for Breast Cancer Research!

Monday 28th Jun

We are so proud of the knitting community for the overwhelming response and support to our little fundraiser.

As you know we teamed up with Sam and Olga from Thread & Maple and Designer Tracie Miller of the Grocery Girls, to run a fundraiser both in Australia and Canada for breast cancer research and awareness.

The proceeds from both our fundraisers came to $11,470 AUD with donations with the proceeds from the Australian fundraiser going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Canadian donations going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, smashing our original $2K target.

The total raised in the Louie & Lola fundraiser was an incredible $8,791 AUD and $2,510 CAD by our amazing friends at Thread & Maple.

Combined this brought the funds raised to $11,470 AUD / $10,700 CAD.

This included both proceeds from our fundraiser giveaway (including our $5,000 x 2 dollar matching contribution), direct donations received on our NBCF Donation Page and $20 from the sale of all Go Pink Notions Clutch Bundles through the Louie & Lola website.

The Thread & Maple BCRF Donation Page can be found here.

We cannot thank you all enough for your support in raising awareness and funds for this very important cause.

With 1 in 7 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime (and 1 in 726 men), breast cancer is something that we are all affected by, being the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
