JEANS SHAVE FOR MUM BREAST CANCER FUNDRAISER

By Jean Lihou

I'm now a Zero Hero

Hello my name is Jean Lihou

my mother Jennifer mckoy at the age of 49 was diagnosed with right sided

oestrogen and progesterone receptive positive lobular breast cancer in 2009

and was treated with radiation therapy countless times in 2010

plus having two surgeries on the right side of her breast removing most of her

breast cancer tissue leaving her with 1 left breast and scars for life in 2010

she had fought threw breast cancer every single day and was cleared breast cancer free in 2012 !

As a young child at the age of 15 i would always go with mum to her hospital appointments at royal Perth hospital never really knowing what she was going threw as a young child mum wouldn’t show her pain or what she was going threw she would always have a big smile on her face and for us her 7 children not knowing how her life flashed before her eyes finding out she had breast cancer all she seen for us was to keep us happy by not letting us know what was really happening.. or how she really felt .. i would always have questions when at the hospital with her .. why she would always be in hospital gowns for a normal doctors appointment?.. why do i have to wait in a completely different room so far away from her?.. why was she shaving her head ?.. when in reality she would be going in for her next radiation treatment for breast cancer being oblivious to the reality my mum was facing each and every single time .. all the fear heart aches and tears .. and i never knew .. she would protect us from the heart ache of the truth that she was going threw breast cancer without telling us just to make our life’s full of love happiness and joy..

she would take all of the pain she was going threw and only shared it with her husband my father Trevor mckoy.

As an adult today i wish i knew more about breast cancer when I was younger and i wish i could have supported my mother threw all the hard times .. as an adult today i understand now my mind is open and my mum has explained everything that had happen to her and why she chose not to tell us just to save us the hurt and pain .. my mum says to me .. you have done more then you will ever know coming to every single appointment i had even though you didn’t know what was going on having you there when i walked out of the room every single time let me know everything was going to be ok ..

learning more each and everyday about breast cancer and how I would love to support my mum NOW ! in my adult life would be to raise funds for breast cancer because with out all the support and funding they have done in that time for my mother she wouldn’t be here today ,

she wouldn’t of gotten the treatments she needed , she wouldn’t of got the support she needed and I’m forever grateful and blessed to know she had the financial support

so i would love to give back to fundraise by shaving my head and donating my hair to people in need that have to fight every single day without having to worry as we the people will always be here to support them big or small.

I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE DONATED & GONE OVER AND BEYOND TO  PEOPLE WITH BREAST CANCER, WITHOUT USE ALL MY MOTHER WOULDN’T BE HERE TODAY.

THANKYOU LOVE JEAN.

I've decided to shave/cut/colour my hair because I want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. I believe every death from breast cancer is one too many. To achieve this, I’m raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.

Click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation and help me reach my goal. Every donation, big or small, will help me get there. Please donate today.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a tax-deductible receipt via email as soon as you make your donation.

Thank you so much for your support!
