I'm now a Zero Hero
Last year I went PINK in honour of my cousin Angela who sadly lost her fight on the 22nd September 2018.
So in Angela's honour, this year, I've decided to shave my hair because I want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. I believe every death from breast cancer is one too many. To achieve this, I’m raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.
I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.
Click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation and help me reach my goal. Every donation, big or small, will help me get there. Please donate today.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a tax-deductible receipt via email as soon as you make your donation.
Thank you so much for your support!

ShareCountdown...minus 6 days and counting...
Tuesday 17th SepWell...this time next week will be a new chapter! I'm very excited, but also a little nervous about how it's all gunna feel next Monday night, when my hair is gone! Don't really know how I'm going to feel...
I'm so blown away by everyone's response so far... OVER $1,500 in prizes donated by local businesses in Cairns...so blown away and CONFIRMED we've sold over 300 raffle tickets - so that's almost about $1,000 in raffle tickets sold. If you still want to buy, message me for details.
So... the countdown continues to the MAIN EVENT - Monday 23rd September - 7pm...

Monday 26th AugSo...why am I doing this??
Tuesday 13th AugFirstly, thanks to everyone who has donated so far! I am so overwhelmed by everyone's generosity...but I know it goes much deeper than that, as I'm sure most of us have either been impacted individually or had a family member or loved one, go through this terrible ordeal.
On the 5th June 2018, I received a message from my cousin Angela in the UK with the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer...this was the start of a journey that within less than 4 months, had taken her from us.
On the 30th July 2018, I went PINK for Cancer, raising almost $1,500 and only a few weeks later, I got to see my beautiful cousin face to face, thanks to a generous donation from a friend, who paid for my ticket to the UK. During this time, I got to see our Angela go through a myriad of emotions...but one of the funniest moments for us, is when we fell through the sunbed out the back of her place (picture)...we laughed and laughed until we cried, here we were, two peas in a pod, on the floor, struggling to get up! This was one of the happiest moments of my life, and one that I cherish more than anything.
Whilst in the UK I remarked to Angela that as she had lost her hair, I wanted to shave my head to support her...she wouldn't let me at the time...she loved the PINK...loved how much it suited me. So I said to her that when it got longer, I would shave it off for Cancer research...she was so happy about that!
If only I'd known that the last time I hugged her, would be the last time...we had a great night out that night... Lee, Beth, Sharon, me and my beautiful Angela - double dessert each...wish it had lasted forever! Less than a month later...she breathed her last...
That's why I'm doing this...for Angela...for her memory and I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your support!

Monday 12th AugSo... I've decided that it would be great to also conduct a raffle to see what money we can raise through that avenue also.
Thanks to my good friend Karen Hansford from HansfordCall.Com, we've put our heads together to organise raffle prizes.
So far, I am so grateful to the Cairns Aquarium & Coffee Works who have both generously donated prizes. The raffle will be drawn on Monday Night before the shave.
I'll keep you updated as the prizes come in...now I've just got to organise those raffle tickets...

Feeling Nervous
Wednesday 7th AugI have to admit, I am feeling rather nervous about this whole thing. But...it's in honour of my beautiful cousin. I said to her last year, on my trip to the UK that I'd stand with her and shave my head...at the time though, I'd just gone PINK and she was estatic that I'd done that and she loved the colour. So...a few weeks ago I spoke with my husband about shaving my head in Angela's honour on the anniversary of her passing and he said I had his full support...so here we go! It'll grow back!! BTW...it's shoulder length and the colour is gone...lol
