I'm going without artificial sugar to support breast cancer research!

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is challenging all Australians to Give it Up for Breast Cancer.

I've decided to go without artificial sugar  and raise money for vital breast cancer research.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. This year over 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed. That is why I have decided to give it up and help fund the future of research and change these stats.

Please donate to my page and you’ll be helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation take one step closer to reaching their goal of Zero Deaths From breast cancer.

It is also very hard to give up on artificial sugar and too when you have a sweet tooth and is too addicted to sugar and not natural sugar.

YOU can make a difference. Let me know if you want to Give it Up for Breast Cancer with me!

Skipping artificial/added Sugar for this challenge?

Monday 1st Jul

In a world where self-proclaimed guilt-free indulgence comes in the form of artificial sweetener prescriptions, many today opt out of these synthetic concoctions for more natural ways to satisfy their taste buds. Here's why and how you can embark on your personal mission to purge your diet of artificial sweeteners.

Benefits of Skipping Artificial Sugar

Artificial sweeteners like aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin can be found in diet sodas and sugar-free snacks, but some healthy products also contain these artificial sweeteners. However, some studies have claimed that substitutes can be far from harmless: they may distort gut bacteria, raise sugar cravings, and perhaps even cause metabolic problems. Here are some improvements in digestion that many people have reported after avoiding artificial sweeteners:

Better Digestion: A decrease in the major bloating and discomfort generally associated with artificial sweeteners.

Managed Energy Levels: Sugar is mostly made of glucose and most of the energy to the human body comes from glucose, excess glucose can give you energy in a high level which can increase the level of dopamine and your sleep schedule will be destroyed and even other things in your daily life.

Enhanced Taste Buds: Taste buds are formed by how much you eat with that taste and if you eat a lot of added sugar your taste buds are likely not to want any other taste, and if you stop eating added sugar your taste buds will like the taste of different things, like bitter, salty, spicy or sour.

Weight Control: Your weight will be controlled nowadays sugar is the main snack for every person from little ones to grown-ups, and is, therefore, a main part of weight too, if you stop eating sweets especially artificial your weight is likely to be more controlled.

How to Avoid Artificial Sugar

Read Labels: Look for words such as aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin on the labels of food. In the ingredients of food look for words which ends with 'ose' and if it has syrup in it.

Opt for Foods Naturally Rich in Sugar: Reach out for innately sweet foods, like fruits, which are rich in fibre and various nutrients.

Try Natural Sweeteners: Experiment with some of the following alternatives: stevia, monk, erythritol, Yacon syrup fruit extract, or raw honey, but in moderation.

Cook at Home: This way, you can have control over what goes into your food and avoid hidden artificial sources of artificial sugar. Try cooking with natural sweets.

Things to Eat Instead of Sugar

Fresh Fruits: Berries, apples, and mangoes are naturally sweet and full of vitamins.

Yogurt with Fruit: Plain yogurt topped with fresh fruit or drizzled with some honey gives a good dose of sweetness without artificial additions.

Home-Made Smoothie: Blend fruits, vegetables, and a natural sweetener like dates for a refreshing treat.

Dark Chocolate: Look for those with higher cocoa content. They are less sweet by nature and also contain antioxidants.
