Abigail & Adel walk to save lives.

By Abigail & Adel Mack-Weinstock

We are now Zero Hero's

Did you know that every day 57 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 people lose their lives to this disease?

We decided to get active and set ourselves a challenge to raise funds for world-class breast cancer research to help National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

We will log our hikes and photos of our achievements completing a minimum of 57km in the month of July.

We are currently travelling Cairns to NT and back so our girls saw it as a perfect opportunity to give to this great course. Please support us and our pledge to save lives and make a difference.

Every donation, big or small, will get us closer to reaching our goal. Together, we can stop deaths from breast cancer.

Still pushing it!

Monday 29th Jul
Even though we have well surpassed our donation target and have achieved over our pledge of 57kms (70.12km)  we are still going strong.
Very respectable walk today, 9.09km, Karumba Point to Karumba and back.
Such a different landscape to anything we have walked in July.
First FNQ walk which reminded us what it's like walk in the tropics. Met some colourful characters at the shop while grabbing well deserved icey poles.
What a great afternoon!

27/7 7.30km Warrigal waterhole Mt Isa

Saturday 27th Jul
We did it ??
We walked to save lives from Breast cancer another 7.30km today at the amazing Warrigal waterhole (painted Rock) Mount Isa

And woohoo! Are we proud!!
we loved every minute of it, the track was so dynamic and rocky, the sight seeing was spectacular, but most of all the highlight was the pool itself with the spectacular Indigenous painting on the rocks.
Tick Tick and Tick ?

And last but not least.
So, although we completed and past our target of 57km we are still walking to save lives till the end of July and we are still keeping the fund raising open for donations till the end of July too ? We will keep updating our progress and would really appreciate your support no matter big or small ? to help make a difference.

We want to thank everyone that has supported us and donated so far, we couldn't of achieved this without you ?

25/26-7 travelling back into qld

Friday 26th Jul
Weve had a couple of busy driving days to get to our next destinations.
It's been really interesting seeing all the landscape, plants and mountains around us change as we headed back to qld.
We experienced so many interesting small outback towns and very interesting characters.
We are definitely excited and very committed to finish our hiking challenge with flying colours ?
we will update tomorrow with our latest achievements. Stay tooned.

24/7/24 3.73km Nurrku walk (Karlu Karlu) NT

Wednesday 24th Jul
Wow!! the rocks ! How did they form?
what a spectacular walk. Beautiful red rock formation ??  amazing view, perfect weather, so much fun and just the right amount of exercise we needed after a long drive today ? We are super excited now we have officially completed 53.73km hiking ? and we still have a week to go ?

100% support

Tuesday 23rd Jul
An overwhelming donation has come in from the Mack family. Each and everyone of them has been affected by cancer one way or another. This cause is so close to their hearts and have demonstrated that family is always strongest united. This has been reflected in there super generous support pushing Abigail and Adel's achievements above and beyond their goals. With more than $6000 raised the girls will for sure have made a real difference in the fight to beat breast cancer.
A huge thank you goes to the Mack family, Tova, David, Sheina and Stevie. Your 100% support for Abigail, Adel and the National Breast Cancer Foundation again shows we are all stronger supporting each other in our battles.
We love you xx

Back to it.

Monday 22nd Jul
So our few days fossicking in the NT red dirt is done and dusted!
What an amazing place here at the beginning of the Harts Range. We found some shiny things in some unforgiving lanscape and met some real characters.
Time to get our walk on again, so
we'll keep you all posted on the great tracks we complete and the generous support we've raised. Watch this space!

Fossicking :) Gemtree (Hart's Range)

Friday 19th Jul
So, another part to out trip, we stooped for some relaxing theraputic digging ? We do love our hikes! but if you know us well enough, you'll know another favourite is digging in dirt and fossicking for gems ? so we did 3 hours of fossicking and found zircon & some garnet ? we are so extremely blessed to have so many magnificent experiences and so many awesome friends, family and strangers that are supporting our commitment to raising as much money possible to support the battle against breast cance.  we have like so many other had loved ones fight cancer, so we really want to make a difference.

17/7/24 3.26km Serpentine Gorge NT

Wednesday 17th Jul
it seriously is one if yhr most beautiful places, it looks like an image of a fairy tale ? beautiful red rocks the mountains are rough, like someone has mowed them unevenly. We walked all the say u0 to the lookout which was absolutely breathtaking (literally  ??) it was very steep and lots of gravel, so we needed to be cautious. We even collected a few very small gum nuts along the way.

16/7/24 5.50km Arrwe Arrwe Link and Ilentye Loop - Northern Territory

Tuesday 16th Jul
Before we went out for a walk we went to visit the reptile centre where we were lucky to pat and hold snakes and lizards of all sorts.
Then we went for our hike on a beautiful loop with spectacular landscape of rocky formation, uneven rocky ground, loads of wild life foot print & around the old Telegraph station and historical reserve. While walking we climbed a beautiful rocky hill to view all area from above and we got to see really closely a little rock wallaby that was posing or us to take photos. we really had a good day.

15/7/24 7.19km Spencer Hill & Stuart walk

Monday 15th Jul
Absolutely beautiful :)we started our day with camel ride which was absolutely spectacular. We weren't sure at first and then we were blown away ? we were surrounded with shrubs, trees and loads of green, the mountains rock formation and lots of beautiful birds ? the walk was loads of fun as the track was kinda rocky so not entirely flat. We got to see the first building in Alice Springs, the Telegraph ? we feel so grateful that we are experiencing all this beauty.

Kathleen Springs 13/7/24 2.57km

Sunday 14th Jul
Kathleen Spring walk was through an old cattle holding and watering station run by indigenous people from the late 1800's. Lovely grass and shrub lined track with scraggly rock walls as a backdrop, leading down to a beautiful water hole.

13/7/24 2km kings canyon creek walk

Sunday 14th Jul
A shorter but still stunning walk through the creek at the base of the canyon. We saw bautiful vegetation and pretty native birds while making our way down the rocky creek bed. The wall of the creek had varied colours and wear marks from the elements.

12/7/24 6.3km King Canyon Rim

Sunday 14th Jul
Spectacular and challenging walk. Clamouring up endless natural steps to then scramble through unworlding rock formations resembling stack of gingerbread. The sheer magnitude the gorge itself was breathtaking along with multitudes of lookouts and strange rocky outcrops.
We almost missed the turn to get to the "Garden of Eden" it's a water hole (no swimming) but so happy we didn't as it was something from a painting or postcard.

10/7/24 2.2km Walpa Gorge

Sunday 14th Jul
it was a short walk but no less beautiful, the walk was rocky and spectacular with big walls of red rock formation from both sides with beautiful vegetation all around. The energy was very empowering.

9/7/24 7km Valley of the Winds full circuit (kata tjuta)

Sunday 14th Jul
What an amazing place! Weather worn stone mountains, dotted with beautiful vegetation. Towering rock formations and cool gorges are a sight to be seen.

8/7/24 Uluru Base walk 9.43km

Sunday 14th Jul
Wow! Ayres rock aka Uluru, what magnificent place. the weather,  the vibe the rock formation, the energy the colours ? we had an amazing walk, it was long, but so rewarding at the end ? thanks to all for your heartfelt donations and supporting us x

3/7/24 2km at Lake Hart

Saturday 13th Jul
Wow! we drove lots that day as we moved from one destination to the next but we had to go and see the spectacular Lake Hart. the walk to the lake was in salt ? yes! Salt ? no sand and the views were breathtaking too.

1/7/2024 2.75km Alligator Gorge

Saturday 13th Jul
The start of our fund raising journey walking to save lives from breast cancer.
this was a stunning narrow section of Alligator Gorge, part if mt remarkable national park, rocky and undulating hike, very short but a decent hike ?

Thank you to my Supporters
