International Women's Day 2026

Please support Stitching for a Friend - International Women's Day fundraiser!

Did you know that every day 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 people in Australia die every day from this disease?

This year's International Women's Day theme is 'Give to Gain'. With my two sisters affected by breast cancer I've decided to hold a fundraiser, in conjunction with Make Space, to raise funds for world-class breast cancer research to help National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

I'll be hosting Stitching for a Friend on Sunday 8th March where you can come along and sew a badge in relation to someone you know who has been affected my cancer. Please support me and my pledge to save lives and make a difference. For more details on the event and how to join in on the day go to https://events.humanitix.com/stitching-for-a-friend-national-breast-cancer-foundation-fundraiser.

Every donation, big or small, will get me closer to reaching my goal. Together, we can stop deaths from breast cancer.

Stitching for a Friend will happen on Sunday March 8th at Make Space, The Station, Newcastle between 10:30am and 3pm. Come along and stitch a badge for someone affected by cancer, have a cup of tea, and enjoy a piece of cake. Make a donation on the day or via this page (to get an automatic tax receipt if applicable).

Thank you for your support.

I am so pleased to announce that tickets for Stitching for a Friend are selling well, and its still 4 weeks away.
I've made a couple of brooches to give a few ideas on the day but really you can create a brooch for anyone or anything you love. Here's a photo of my cat Dexter wearing his 'I love Lucy' brooch - Lucy is his fellow feline.
